Thunderous Calm

Joe’s description from 500px is perfect and inspiring.

Amidst the chaos- rushing water, boulders fallen from the cliffs above, and drenching mist- there’s something peaceful about being at the bottom of a 2,425 foot waterfall… the sound is deafening- loud enough to drown out the outside world.

Below the Falls

Here’s a beautiful photo from Yosemite by Mark Coté. I’ve only been to Yosemite once and it was during the (current) 3 year stretch of drought here in California. Add to that, my timing was late August so there was no chance for me to see any running water. This photo by Mark though has got me itching to get back up there.

Long Exposure of Tenaya Lake in Yosemite

27 second long exposure photo of Tenaya Lake in Yosemite National Park

Here’s a long exposure photo that I took on a recent trip out to Yosemite National Park.

It’s a 27 second exposure that I calculated using Slower Shutter (get version 1.1 here). I used a development version of version 1.2 that gives you the option for an audible alert rather than just vibrating when the timer is done. I’ve got to say, I initially thought a vibrate feature alone would be all that was needed, but I really liked the audible alert option.
